1.The German Renters' Association (DMB) estimates that there is a shortage of about 250,000 apartments nationwide, and the latest government report on the housing sector concludes that a growing number of cities and regions "are likely to experience bottlenecks." In fact, subsidized housing units in Germany have declined from about 2.6 to 1.6 million over the last decade.
